JAILLOT, HUBERT ALEXIS
Les Duches de Cleves, de Juliers et de Limbourg, Le Comte de Meurs, le Quartier de Ruremonde dans le Duche de Gueldres, l’Archeves et Esclectorat de Cologne & c. By H. Jaillot [Paris 1707.]
38 1/4 x 28 7/8”. Dissected and cloth-backed. Full original color. Very good condition.
A very fine map of the Rhineland, from Nijmegen to Andernach, including the cities of Bonn, Cologne, and Dusseldorf. The lands flanking the Rhine are shown as far as Maastricht to the west and all of the Ruhr Valley to the east. Many of the German states within these limits are picked out in Full color. The map was published during the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714), during which the Rhineland was a major Theatre of War. The map originally appeared on two sheets in late Jaillot atlases. With this copy, the publisher has joined and backed the two sheets and issued them as a separate with full color. The map is scarce in this format.
