Full original color, two joined folio sheets that measure 25-1/2 x 36-1/2”. Very nice condition.

DESCRIPTION:

A large-scale general map of Italy based on a manuscript by Charles Price and engraved by John Senex, and originally published jointly by the two in 1708. Their partnership was dissolved around 1711. This is a later state that preserves the 1708 date, but with the imprint of Senex alone.

In the lower right corner to the southeast of the Italian boot is a second outline of that region with the notation “The faint line shews wherein we differ from M. Sanson, H. Jaillot [&c.]. Where it is evident they have made Italy about 130 miles longer than it really is and about … 240 miles more Eastward from London than it should be….”
