This is a large-scale, highly decorative map of the British Isles by John Senex (c.1678-1740), one of the most important English map publishers and globe makers of the first half of the eighteenth century. His New Map of Great Britain was originally published around 1710 in partnership with Charles Price. This is the second state, with Senex’s name alone, which appeared in The English Atlas, 1714. Quite detailed, the map has a large allegorical cartouche representing Great Britain, capped with a medallion portrait of Queen Anne.
