DESCRIPTION:

An extremely unusual decorative railway map of Belgium. The central panel contains a general map of Belgium divided into provinces, with the nation’s railway system laid down. There is an inset that shows Belgium’s railway connections with neighboring countries.

The novelty of the sheet lies in the twenty-four surrounding strip maps set within decorative borders. These show short section’s of the country’s railroad lines (Ostende to Bruges, for example) with all intervening stations located. The great attraction is the vignettes of important building and sites along each section.

Very handsome.
