DESCRIPTION:

This is a detailed plan of the Union attack on Fort Blakely, Alabama, the last major battle of the Civil War. This Confederate stronghold was located on the eastern side of Mobile Bay. It was captured a few hours after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. Drawn on a scale of 400 yards to the inch, the plan shows Confederate positions in red and Union in blue. The topography, roads, and other features of the landscape are shown in detail.
