The upper part of the plate shows the Mexican Pacific coast around Culiacan in the present state of Sinaloa. The lower part depicts the southern tip of Florida (including hints of the Florida Keys) and much of the West Indies and the Bahamas. It is one of the earliest maps to focus on the region.
