This rare, detailed chart shows the Old Bahama Channel between the northern coast of Cuba and the Great Bahama Bank and includes the string of islands that make up the famous Cuban resort region of the Jardines del Rey or “Gardens of the King” including Cayo Coco, Cayo Romano, Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Guajaba. The chart is highly detailed, with hundreds of soundings, sailing directions, tidal information and a host of other information. Two large insets show additional islands off the coast. The chart was engraved by Besançon and published by the Depot de la Marine in Paris. The original price of “Deux Francs” is engraved lower right.
